- When can I do a urine pregnancy test after my missed periods?

The Urine Pregnancy Test detects the pregnancy hormone (Human chorionic gonadotropin) in Urine. This is secreted by woman’s placenta and the test usually done after 10 days of your first missed period. Hence, Urine pregnancy test can be done one or two weeks after your missed periods to confirm pregnancy if you have regular periods.

- Can I travel during pregnancy?

Travelling is not a definite contraindication during pregnancy. Long timing travels may physically exhaust you. Hence, it should be avoided during 1st 3 months and last 2 months. Occasional air travel doesn’t cause any negative pregnancy outcome.

- Is it dangerous to get pregnant after 35 years?

Women have a certain amount of eggs in ovary from birth which declines as age advances. That is why fertility in women reduces as age advances. Not all women who get pregnant in their 30’s will have problems but some do have like birth defects, fetal anomalies, miscarriage, stillbirth etc. So women, do not delay your pregnancy.

- How do I calculate my due date?

Pregnancy usually lasts for 40 weeks or 280 days from your Last Menstrual Period (LMP). Add 280 days or 40 weeks to your LMP or else the easiest way is subtract 3 months from the LMP and add 7 days.

- How to deal with stretch marks during and after
pregnancy?

Reddish stripes on belly occur as pregnancy advances. They are also seen around breast, buttock and thigh region. But there is not a whole lot you can do to prevent them. Avoiding excessive weight gain during pregnancy, applying olive or coconut oil or vitamin E oil may reduce the marks.

- Will my vagina become very patulous after normal
delivery?

Yes, the vagina does become a little loose or patulous after normal delivery preferably following a prolonged labor and instrumental deliveries. This also depends on how strong your pelvic floor muscles were before delivery. It is just like an elastic band which can bounce backing to near normal by pelvic floor exercises.

- When do I feel my baby’s movement?

It takes 20 to 22 weeks for a mother to feel baby’s movements if it’s a first baby and 18 to 20 weeks if it’s a second baby.

- Is it safe to have sex during pregnancy?

Yes it can be had if the female is comfortable in having sex during pregnancy. The only thing is, there is a chance of miscarriages, bleeding and preterm labor due to infections. So it’s better done with a condom and it should not be very deep penetration and anytime between 12 weeks to 28 weeks, it’s better to have sex with consent of the female partner.

- What are the remedies to ease weight gain during pregnancy?

Drink a lot of water, Avoid going to bed immediately after taking food. Take a walk after food and avoid taking full stomach.

- How do I tackle morning sickness?

Avoid oil & fatty foods. Drink plenty of water.
